The Rebuilt TV Cabinet

Here are some pictures of the rebuild job I did on our corner tv cabinet to accomodate the new tv. I was trying to figure out how to do this job at Christmas time when Stephen said, "Why don't you just cut it here and here." I considered his idea and it was a good one. So here are the pictures of how it turned out.

Above is a picture of the cabinet with the doors closed. It basically looks the same except for the trim I added to hide the cuts. I used some of the leftover walnut wood from Stephens coffee table. It is a little darker.

Above is a picture of the other side with the doors closed.

Above is as it looked before with the doors open.

Above we open the second set of hinges to achieve the "NEW" look with the cut portion opened up as well.

Above is a close up of the right side. If you look closely you will notice an angle bracket just above the TV. I had to add these to help stiffen things up. Cutting it made things pretty flimsy.

Above is the left side.

So there you have it. We sure do like the new TV. Kaysha's boys like it too. They enjoyed a Tom and Jerry cartoon this morning.

Awesome! We're excited to play the Wii on your new big screen (hint hint). That could affect our spring break decisions...
